The installations make up a year-long public exhibition at the Science Museum in London and can be interacted with by anyone, anywhere at chromeweblab.com, sponsored by Google Chrome.
Worldwide visitors both on and offline will be able to make music with people across the world; launch information into cyberspace and see where images on the web live, as well as view different organisations and business which have webcams in other countries.

Lab Tag

The Lab Tags are produced from a machine at the front of the space, they enable you to get involved with the installations by inserting them into other machines around the gallery and creating sound in the space.

Connectivity

The interaction with the installations is linked through connectivity and surveillance. The consumers are drawn to the gallery mainly by sound and moving image, the space is not easy to locate therefor it has a mystery about it intriguing the science museum visitors.

Instruments

These are just a couple of primary photographs taken on my personal experience of the Web Lab.
All the instruments create beautiful plink plonk sounds, the colours and moving images around the lab captivated me so much that I didn't want to leave the space.
The space its self is very playful with the technologies  however it appears to be very technical at first, I was slightly intimidated by the instruments because I had to absorb how it was working.
The museum staff were all extremely enthusiastic for visitors to get involved.
I found that once I started to experiment with the sounds on the chrome installations I couldn't stop.
The realisation that you were communicating with people all over the world was astonishing.

Data Tracer

The data tracer is a component of the web gallery where by we as consumers can view in which parts of the world the music is being produced.

Surveillance

Interaction: aware or unaware?
The online Web Lab is completely different to the space its self, the site is designed to connect different countries through music and technology.
Visitors in the space were completely unaware that they are being recorded live for the online web page, there are a number of cameras around the space which are filming the participants constantly and being posted on the site.
I believe if the individuals were made aware of this their response to the machines would have been different as they would have either played up to the surveillance or avoided it.
